Electric Guitars for Under $100

Who is Logan and What's Up His Alley?
by Marshall Patton

This site is dedicated to my fourteen-year-old son and his undeniable love of music. Myself, I have never been very musically inclined. My wife is certainly where the musically talented genes come from in this household. She plays piano and has a knack for reading music which has been a definite plus as my son moves into this exciting part of his life.

Logan sometimes teases me about having stolen 'his idea' for a web site but hey, he's got music talents, I've got the computer genes. Actually, the idea for this site did come from watching him get excited about musical instruments and exploring how far he could go with his talents.

Starting a couple of years ago, we purchased a used electric guitar for him (assuming it would be another passing fad) and signed him up for lessons at a local music store. That's all it took, he was hooked. There are some areas of a teenager's life where hopefully parents can communicate with them. Luckily for me, Logan seems to love the same kind of music that caught my attention back in the 80's. Sure, it's packaged a little differently and there are new faces and new messages, but rock music is, fortunately, still alive and well in my sons room when he turns on that amp and picks up that guitar. A couple of years have gone by, the used guitar we bought him bit the dust and we've bought him a new one, he's got a new amp (Zoom Fire 30) with a ton of effects and a built in tuner but now I can even talk him into knocking out some old 80's hits for me from time to time.

This summer could be the first year of the 'garage band' stage with him if we can find the right mix of talented kids. We make yearly trips to a Christian Music Festival called Ichthus and I find that I like his music to (just can't admit it too often). I hope he has many years of music ahead of him and I'm glad he's found his thing. Now, if I can just get him to listen to country occasionally...
